Canine Legal Update
Presented by Terry Fleck, deputy sheriff and canine handler (retired) and author of the Canine Legal Update and Opinions for supervisors and administrators plus patrol, narcotic and contraband, explosives, tracking, search and rescue and accelerant dog teams. This seminar has been taught nationwide to over 23,000 students. Praised for reducing canine unit liability and increasing K-9 officer safety, this seminar has been updated and is now available.

Tactical High Risk Canine Team Tracking
A one day seminar presented by Terry Fleck, deputy sheriff and canine handler (retired) and author of the Canine Legal Update and Opinions for supervisors and administrators plus patrol, narcotic and contraband, explosives, tracking, search and rescue and accelerant dog teams.
This one-day course will cover these following areas:
- Use of a police dog as a locating tool;
- Team movement with the canine, including a five member team;
- Controlling a compliant suspect;
- Controlling a noncompliant suspect;
- Combinations of use of force to control a physically aggressive suspect.
There are three components necessary for a successful canine team:
- Canine training
- Tactical training for the handler;
- Legality training on the proper deployment and use of the canine.
This course will address the tactics needed for both the dog and handler in order to locate, control and take a suspect into custody. Defensive Tactics for K-9 Teams

This one-day course will cover these following areas:
- Contact / cover, using a police dog;
- Maintaining cover, using a police dog;
- Use of a police dog as a use of force;
- Combinations of use of force to control a physically aggressive suspect;
- Combining the use of a K-9 handler AND the dog as a use of force;
- The K-9 team successfully taking a suspect into custody.

A one day seminar presented by Terry Fleck, deputy sheriff and canine handler (retired) and author of the Canine Legal Update and Opinions for supervisors and administrators plus patrol, narcotic and contraband, explosives, tracking, search and rescue and accelerant dog teams.
This one-day course will cover these following areas:
High Risk Vehicle Stops with a K-9 Team:
- The concept of "mobile cover";
- Appropriate use of high risk vehicle stop law enforcement patrol personnel and patrol vehicles;
- The use of a police dog as a locating tool;
- Controlling a compliant suspect;
- Controlling a noncompliant suspect;
- Combinations of use of force to control a physically aggressive suspect.
High Risk Vehicle Assaults with a K-9 Team:
- Appropriate use of high risk vehicle assault law enforcement personnel and unmarked vehicles;
- The use of two police dogs as an apprehension tool;
- Team movement with the canine, including a six member team;
- Controlling a noncompliant suspect;
- Combinations of use of force to control a physically aggressive suspect.
There are three components necessary for a successful canine team:
- Canine training
- Tactical training for the handler;
- Legality training on the proper deployment and use of the canine.
This course will address the tactics needed for both the dog and handler in order to maximize the use of a K-9 team in both high risk vehicle stops and high risk vehicle assaults.
